I will start working at Clientfocus. It’s a small company, I think they have about 50 employees, but they are growing steadily. They do ServiceNow only. They are ServiceNow partners, and I will be a Solution Consultant. Before starting with this program, I worked at Deloitte in the area of technology transformation. Then I had the opportunity to participate in one ServiceNow project for an automotive manufacturer in Germany. It was the first time I saw what ServiceNow is, and I really liked it. I loved that project. I had a lot of fun, I had great energy—energy that I didn’t have in any other project. I got very nice feedback from colleagues, the project manager, and also from the client. I thought I needed to take control of my career and not just do random projects. While browsing on LinkedIn, I saw the advertisement for the StartSteps course, and I applied. I also left Deloitte. It was a big, risky switch, but I am very happy I did. Now I have what could be my dream job. I already have two certifications: System Administrator and Application Developer. Before the course, I was rejected from jobs because other candidates had at least the CSA certification. That was a blocker for me. I couldn’t change my lack of years of experience, but I could change the fact that I didn’t have certifications. That’s exactly what I did with StartSteps, and it opened the door for me. During the course itself, everything changed. I even had two job offers—one from Clientfocus and one from Servitec. I chose Client Focus. It was a totally different situation from before the course.

The program managers even tried to assist those who were unemployed with job opportunities several months after the program ended – other programs don' usually do that! Also the internship is quite important because it provides insight into the nature of the industry and sets realistic expectations for when you start working. All in all the program is very demanding, but if you have an interest in it, it will be very rewarding. For me, the chance to work in tech in a career I wanted when I moved to Berlin was a dream come true. I'm glad I was able to achieve that through this program and to explore a new side of tech that I look forward to discovering more about in the future.
